Counseling
Counseling is a collaborative effort between the counselor and client wherein the professional counselor helps clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil. They seek to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem; and promote behavior change and optimal mental health.
A recent British study suggests that a simple and relatively cheap type of talk therapy counseling called "behavorial activation" is very effective in treating depression. The premise behind the treatment is that people's mood and behavior are linked, and that depression can be reduced by increasing engagement in activities that the person finds meaningful. Learning to relax, encouragement of a meditative state, exposure to the high level of minerals in a salt cave can be a positive addition to any counselor's medical kit and assist with behavorial activation. There are 4 major general types of counseling: Individual, Couples, Family and Group Counseling. Counseling and psychology therapy may be covered by insurance companies and managed care plans. You would need to check with them to find out the level of coverage for professional counseling and the limitations.
