PEMF Therapy
What is PEMF Therapy?
The Vermont Salt Cave Spa & Halotherapy Center is pleased to offer PEMF Therapy. PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic fields) therapy is a process of applying magnetic fields to the body. It is recognized as offering a number of health benefits:

-
Cellular tune-up, enhancing your body’s overall functioning.
-
Improving blood circulation
-
Reducing chronic pain (FDA Approved)
-
Promoting bone healing (FDA Approved)
-
Alleviating symptoms of arthritis
-
Treating symptoms of depression (FDA Approved)
-
Diabetic patients can minimize the discomfort associated with diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) conditions.
After over 2,000 medical studies, PEMF therapy is considered a safe, effective, non-invasive treatment for a wide variety of ailments. These studies demonstrate that PEMF therapy can help cells fight off disease, rebalance internal flora, repair dysfunction, and support healing in the body. Significantly, these findings have held true throughout a wide range of studies, regardless of the specific type of PEMF device used in each experiment.

What can you expect with a PEMF Treatment?
You'll be lying down on our PEMF Therapy Mat for 30-45 minutes listening to gentle, relaxing music while the PEMF frequency works its magic. The frequency used is 7.8Hz, which is the Schumann resonance - the same frequency as the earth’s magnetic field.

There are 18 layers to this PEMF mat, which consists of:
-
About 15 pounds of top-quality amethyst, known to give a calming effect
-
2 pounds of tourmaline, which has the ability to generate an electric charge and emit negative ions and far infrared rays
-
2 pounds of natural obsidian, known as a protective stone that removes negative energy from the area
-

Essentially, a wire lined with silicon coating (which filters incoherent EMFs) is heated and runs through the mat. Additional layers help with heat distribution so the mat heats up evenly all throughout. The bottom layer is a waterproof material, while the top layer is high-quality synthetic leather.

A sampling of PEMF Scientific Studies
A 1993 study conducted at the International Pain Research Institute concluded that brief exposure of affected areas to PEMF therapy resulted in significant pain reduction.

Researchers at Wake Forest University found that PEMF stimulation can be applied locally to increase vasodilation in a particular area of the body, resulting in improved circulation to that area.

In a 1998 study published in the Journal of the Indian Medical Association, researchers determined that PEMF therapy can alleviate painful symptoms of RA.
